San Diego State Women's Soccer: Aztecs picked to finish first in Mountain West coaches' poll

In a recent coaches poll, SDSU women's soccer was picked preseason favorites with five first-place votes and 115 total points.

The Aztecs have done it again--rather been chosen again, to win the Mountain West women's soccer title.

The selection came after the annual coaches poll where each of the 12 Mountain West women's soccer head coaches predict who will win the conference.

San Diego State received five first-place votes to go along with 115 total points. (See full poll at bottom)

The decision seems consistent with the way the Aztecs have played recently: SDSU has won the regular season and the conference tournament the past two consecutive seasons.

The pick is also due in part to six returning starters and 14 letterwinners from last season. In the 2013-14 campaign the Aztecs finished 13-7-2 overall, 9-1 in conference play. SDSU was eliminated in the first round of the NCCA tournament, where they dropped 3-0 to UCLA.

Mountain West newcomer Colorado College also notably received five first place votes with 112 points. The 2014-15 season will be Colorado College's first season in the Mountain West for women's soccer. They enter the season after winning back-to-back Conference USA titles.

The Aztecs kick of the 2014-15 campaign at home on Friday, Aug. 22 against Michigan State.
