Former San Diego State guard Jamaal Franklin scores 53 points in China

Don't be surprised if NBA teams come calling in January.

Former San Diego State guard Jamaal Franklin scored 53 points on 19-29 shooting in his most recent game as a member of the Zhejiang Lions, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

The former second-round pick of the Memphis Grizzlies has been quite successful playing as a small forward in China, averaging 26.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.1 blocks in 33.1 minutes per contest.

Franklin was waved by the Grizzlies on August 31. He reportedly worked out with the San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards, but ultimately ended up signing with the Lions on October 7.

With Franklin's impressive level of play, don't be surprised to see NBA teams come calling when the league's 10-day contract deals begin in January.
