Week 10 Mountain West football in review.

We are back for the Week 10 Mountain West podcast recap, and a lot of BCS talk. We begin by wondering why a playoff can not start now, and discuss how this year is like 2007 and 2004 at the top.

We finally get to the games and we are perplexed by Air Force losing, UNLV finally shows up and has a big game, we don't really talk about Fresno smoking Hawaii, Wyoming retains the bronze boot for the fourth year and we talk about how San Diego State and Boise state came down to just three plays.

Enjoy the show below, or subscribe to the show. Plus, we are now on Stitcher Radio, so listen to the show that way too.

Redshirt freshman Nick Sherry finished with 289 yards and two touchdowns and Brandley Randle scored three touchdowns - two on the ground - as UNLV put together a complete game to overwhelm visiting New Mexico 35-7 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. Saturday afternoon.

The UNLV Rebels produced their second-biggest offensive effort of the season, tallying 530 yards and producing big plays to defeat the New Mexico Lobos 35-7 before a reported 12,845 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.

Redshirt freshman Nick Sherry went 17 of 27 passing for 289 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions while Bradley Randle and Tim Cornett Combined to gain 220 of UNLV’s 241 yards on the ground.

Randle finished with 113 yards on 12 carries, and his only catch of the game was a 17-yard touchdown. Cornett also ran for 107 yards and a touchdown for UNLV (2-8, 2-3 Mountain West Conference). Sherry's other TD was a 75-yarder to Devante Davis, one of two long touchdown passes that pacified the Lobos second half attempt at a comeback.

"Everyone is critical toward us and when we go into a game, like we did today, with a real legitimate chance to match up with someone, we need to win it," said Rebels head coach Bobby Hauck. "There have been times this year where we didn’t. For our guys to go out and finish and play four complete quarters, I’m just proud of them. It shows a lot of character. All the things we have been talking about for two and half years, you can kind of see it being a developed."

New Mexico (4-6, 1-4) top-five rushing offense managed 307 yards but was largely held in check while the Lobos finished with just 43 yards passing. The Lobos' only score came on Carlos Wiggins' 5-yard run in the third quarter to make it 21-7 Rebels. Wide receiver Chase Clayton was UNM's top rusher with 75 yards on 5 carries. New Mexico's leading carriers for the season, Kasey Carrier and Cole Gautsche, only gained 52 ad 35 yards respectively. Jhurell Pressley led the Lobos with 56 yards on 12 carries.Gautsche went 1 of 3 passing for 43 yards and one interception.

"We got whipped," said New Mexico head coach Bob Davie. "We can look at the stats all we want, but they (UNLV) whipped us. I guess it’s life with a freshman quarterback (Cole Gautsche); some of the things that happened.

"Again, we are pretty thin in the secondary, and some things happen where you just say, ‘That didn’t just happen did it?' said Davie. "Overall, that has nothing to do with the outcome. They whipped us. I give them a lot of credit."

Davie said UNLV’s big plays were the key to the game.

"We had them backed up the very first play and we let the ball outside for about a 60-yard run," said Davie. "The very next play, we turn a guy loose in man coverage and they get about a 30-yard chunk. I think about the third down and five and we give up about a 75-yard touchdown pass. I think about the run here at the end (Bradley Randle’s touchdown).

"I appreciate the players’ effort. It’s my responsibility," said Davie. "Those things shouldn’t happen. No way am I using any excuse that we were thin or we were this or we were that, and that’s the reality of it."

The loss puts New Mexico’s bowl aspirations in serious trouble. Because of their 13-game season in 2012, the Lobos need to finish 7-. To do that, UNM must shake off its current three game losing streak and win all of its final three games.

With Saturday being upon us, here's a last minute guide as to how to bet Mountain West games.

Continuing our betting madness in week 10, we can see some surprising lines in the Mountain West. Lets get to them.

Last Week: 4-3

Overall: 44-25

Editor's note: all spreads are coming from Odds Shark. Please also note that the the favored team will have the spread points. All times are in Pacific Standard Time.

11/3/2012, 9:00 AM Air Force (-7.5) vs Army, O/U-62-- There should be no way Air Force loses this game. The Black Knights only win has come against a very weak Boston College, and they even lost to SUNY Stony Brook. With the Commander-in-Chief's trophy on the line, Air Force is a little more desperate than Army after a shocking loss to Navy.

My Pick-Air Force covers easily- Even with Cody Getz out, I don't see how the Falcons lose this one. Give yourself a physical challenge and bet 100 pushups.

11/3/2012, 1:00 PM New Mexico vs UNLV (-3.5), O/U-56-- You would think with the season these two teams are having, New Mexico would be a heavy favorite. However, as we've said before, UNLV has kept most of their games close to the point that this is a pick-em.

My Pick-New Mexico beats the spread- I can't go against FOOTBAW BAWB and his team. With Cole Gautsche starting expect a Lobo win. Bet a pack of red pens.

11/3/2012, 1:30 PM Colorado State vs Wyoming (-10), O/U-52-- As I mentioned about this game on the podcast, this game is all about how the team morale is. Wyoming is not the same team they should be and CSU is on a high after last week versus Hawaii.

My Pick-Colorado State- STUPID UPSET PICK: I'm calling it, State takes the Border War. Bet a bronze boot.

11/3/2012, 4:00 PM Hawai'i vs Fresno State (-32), O/U-60-- We don't even have to analyze this game. It's just how much Fresno will win by.

My Pick-Fresno Covers- It's steep, but this Hawaii team is truly horrible. Bet a couple bottles of wine.

11/3/2012, 7:30 PM San Diego State vs Boise State (-15), O/U-50.5-- In what is easily the game of the week, the spread is too high here. Both of these teams are very even, but the coaching is what makes the difference.

My Pick-San Diego State beats the spread, but loses- I'm going with a 10 point BSU victory here, feel free to disagree. Bet breakfast from Goldy's.

Come join us and talk about Saturday's games

The games get going early as Air Force travels to Navy for an early noon Eastern kick off, and it is an important game as the Commander-In-Chief award is still up for grabs for the Falcons.

The rest of the games will be tough to watch since only two games are shown on a national audience, but if you live in California or Las Vegas, then you might have the TimeWarner Cable SportsNetwork. That will allow you to see most of the games.

So, with not all games easily seen, come hang out here and discuss the games.

There are plenty of games out there that can help Boise State move up the BCS ranks.

The Boise St. Broncos are sitting at No. 19 in the latest BCS standings, and besides winning, they still need some help to move into the top 16. Here are the games that have an effect on Boise State moving up in next weeks BCS standings.

No. 16 Texas A&M at No. 15 Ole Miss - 12 p.m. ET on ESPN

Rooting interest: Doesn't matter

There might be a slight edge given to wanting Texas A&M to win, because both teams will have one loss. However, whatever team loses will drop below Boise State, and that is all what really matters.

No. 20 Nebraska at Michigan State - 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN2

Rooting interest: Michigan State

Two reasons this helps Boise State, first it will help out with strength of schedule since the Broncos played Michigan State and the other is that by defeating Nebraska it would knock them out of the top 25.

No, 4 Oregon at No. 17 USC - 7:00 p.m. ET on FOX

Rooting interest: Oregon

With USC getting a third loss, that will put them out of the BCS picture all together, and open some room for Boise State to move up. This was one of the more anticipated games, plus Oregon will be wearing all-white uniforms, so that is cool. As for the game, I want Oregon to just steam roll USC, and it probably will happen.

No. 24 Oklahoma State at No. 2 Kansas State - 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC

Rooting interest: Kansas State

If Oklahoma State is able to pull off the upset against Kansas State -- which is possible due to their offense -- they would likely move ahead of Boise State, or at least be ahead of Boise State in the computer rankings.
