Linebacker Kevin Davis and Punter Hayden Hunt will both represent the Colorado State Rams at the NFL Scouting Combine. This will be the fourth straight year the Rams have sent an NFL prospect to the combine.
Kevin Davis, 6’1” 237 pounds, was the Rams leader on defense the past two years. Davis finished his career with 257 tackles and 7 sacks. His senior year Davis finished with 110 tackles, 66 unassisted, 10 for loss, three sacks, aan interception, four dorced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He also had five tackles at the East-West Shrine Game.
Davis, who is training in Denver, is being given hope by Shaquille Barrett and DeAndre Elliot. “It gives me confidence that five or six guys I played with (at CSU) are now in the league,” Davis told Kelly Lyell of the Fort Collins Coloradoan. Davis is rated the 18th best inside linebacking prospect and projected to go undrafted by CBSSports.com
Hayden Hunt, 6’0” 220 pounds, went from walk-on to weapon in his CSU Rams career. Hunts career average of 43.8 yards per punt is second in the CSU record books behind Jimmie Kaylor. Kaylor, from 2004-2007, had a career average of 44 yards per punt. As a senior Hunt average 44.1 yards per punt, put 26 kicks inside the 20, 4 touchbacks. Converted 2 fakes for a first down, one passing and one running. Also converted three onside kicks.
In 2015, Hunt was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, which is given annually to the nation’s best college punter. He also earned first-team All-American honors from Pro Football Focus and USA TODAY. Hunt is rated the 6th best punting prospect and is projected to go undrafted by CBSSports.com
The NFL Combine takes place from Tuesday February 28th through Monday March 6th. Hayden Hunt will be there from the 28th through the 3rd, on-field skills will be on the 3rd. Kevin Davis will be there from the 2nd through the 5th, on-field skills will be on the 5th. The NFL Network will broadcast all combine activities.
