On Saturday, Jeff Goodman and ESPN began unveiling the names of the players that had received invites to the NBA Scouting Combine. One name of note not on the invite list was San Diego State sophomore forward Malik Pope. Instead Pope is listed as an alternate for the combine.
Updated NBA combine invite list now up to 62. Still a working list. About 70 or so have been invited by NBA. pic.twitter.com/dH4PnfkYQk

Every year players pull out from the combine either due to injury or they decide to follow their agent’s advice and hold only personal workouts. As the draft approaches you will see some of the higher ranked players begin to withdraw which may allow Pope get the call to Chicago.
Not being invited to the combine can not be a good sign for Pope to get drafted, but there are players who did not get a combine invite and still get drafted.
Aztecs fans are well aware of his potential, however his draft stock is not high at this time. It will be interesting to see if Pope gets an invite and how he responds if he does not get the call to attend.
Pope will have up to May 25th to withdraw his name from the NBA draft and return to school since he has not hired an agent.
