College Football Bowl Schedule Preview

Earlier today the bowl game schedule was released. In 2018, bowl season will officially kick off on December 16th with five separate games, including the Las Vegas bowl, which will see a MWC team taking on an opponent from the Pac-12. Last year it was San Diego State taking on the AAC’s University of Houston. the Aztecs had control the entire time, defeating the Cougars 34-10.

Following the Las Vegas bowl, fans of the Mountain West can look forward to the Famous Idaho Potato bowl on December 22nd when a MWC team takes on a team from the MAC conference. Last years’ Potato bowl featured Idaho’s own taking on the Colorado State Rams in a barn burner. The Vandals ended up getting the win after scoring 61 points.

On Christmas Eve, the Mountain West will see more action when they go head-to-head with the American conference. Last year saw Hawai’i defeating Middle Tennessee 52-35. The game marked the Rainbow Warrior’s fourth appearance overall.

Finally, Mountain West fans will have to wait until December 30th to see any more conference action. In its second year, the Nova Home Loans Arizona bowl will showcase teams from both the Mountain West and the Sun Belt conferences respectively. In its debut, the game featured two teams from the MWC due to the fact that teams from the Sun Belt conference weren’t bowl eligible.

Aside from the Mountain West Conference, the best teams from the Group of Five conferences will be aiming for the Peach, Fiesta, and Cotton bowls this season. However, the Cotton bowl is the least likely due to them hosting Western Michigan last year.
