Colorado State Keys to Victory Against Air Force

Colorado State faces Air Force in a key game for the bowl hopes of the Rams

NCAA Football: Fresno State at Colorado State Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado State Rams face the Air Force Falcons this week in Colorado Springs. The Rams are looking to go to their fourth straight bowl game and a win versus the Falcons would give them that.

Play Your Assignment

Each Ram defender will be given an assignment against the Air Force option offense. They must stay with that assignment, no freelancing. When you freelance against the Falcons is when they burn you for a big play. Staying home is also key. The Falcons like misdirection and they try to force you one way and run the other.

Balanced Offense

Having a balanced offense has been key for the Rams all year. When the Rams become one dimensional, they struggle. The Rams have had great success in games when they can be a balanced offense. The balanced offense has definitely helped Nick Stevens since he came back as starter. Not having to shoulder the load is a definite mental boost for him.

Play Through The Refs

For whatever reason, whenever the Rams play the Falcons the Refs seem to favor the Falcons with the calls. The Rams can’t let that get in their head. Play their game and let calls roll off as they come. If the Rams let the Refs get in their heads, this will be a long game for them.

The Rams have been playing well as of late. Although that has been against lesser competition. Let’s see how they react to a tough team, who will punch them in the mouth.

Rams still win 30-21.
