Week 4 Mountain West football overreactions: Brett Rypien is better than Kellen Moore

Time to take a knee jerk reaction and go crazy over this week's results.

Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Here is what we are overreacting to in the Mountain West this week, and yes they are probably way over the top.

Boise State: The Broncos put up a huge beat down over Virginia which saw true freshman Brett Rypien have a an amazing start where he completed 24 of 35 for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Time to announce that Rypien is already better than Kellen Moore, because that makes sense after just one start.

Colorado State: This team is just average after their latest performance. However, had they been able to outlast Minnesota and Colorado then they would be ranked and have the inside track for a New Year's bowl game.

Nevada: West contender? Well, after beating Buffalo this has to make the Wolf Pack a team that can win their division, because the pistol is back and we mean it this time.

Hawaii: Each week seems to repeat itself for the Warriors as they get beat pretty bad by a good team, but not bad enough for hope to be lost. Maybe Norm Chow just wanted to visit a few more famous stadiums before he retires is fired.

UNLV: Eighty points. Who cares it was against Idaho State but this team looks for real and has a very good chance to compete in the extremely wide open West.

San Diego State: Donnell Pumphrey is apparently extremely overrated, but lets all blame Maxwell Smith since he struggles to complete 40 percent of his passes.

San Jose State: Running back Tyler Ervin had a huge game with 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns, plus 45 yards on four receptions. He is now the best player  in the conference hands down, if not the West Coast.

Fresno State: The sad part of Fresno State's submission is that all of this is true as the Bulldogs are down two quarterbacks, one was suspended for underage drinking and they just gave over 300 yards rushing to San Jose State's Tyler Ervin.

Wyoming: Maybe this team should go back to FCS so that Craig Bohl can coach up the team and that is the way to make this team better. Just a thought?

New Mexico: The Lobos are in first place in the Mountain Division, that is not a typo. Yes, they are tied for Air Force but they are in first place and they are now my favorite to win the Division, sorry Boise State.
