Former Wyoming quarterback Brett Smith has signed with the Toronto Argonauts out of the Canadian Football League.
The 6'3", 206-pounder out of Salem, Oregon went undrafted in this past NFL draft. He had left Wyoming after his junior year. He was signed as a undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was cut a week into the rookie mini-camp. Smith had some other NFL work-outs after being cut but had yet to sign with anyone until now.
In his three-year career at Wyoming, Smith passed for 8,834 yards and 76 touchdowns and ran for another 1,531 yards and 20 scores. He was Wyoming's all-time leader in total offense (10,365 yards), touchdown passes (76), touchdowns responsible for (97) and total offense in a game (640).
Prior to his signing with the Argos, he has been back home training for his next professional opportunity.
