2016 Hawaii Football Recruiting: Hawaii adds athletic LB in Ikem Okeke to roster

The Rainbow Warriors will boost their stacked linebacking corps with the addition of Okeke.

Student Sports

The Rainbow Warriors inked Ikem Okeke, a three-star outside linebacker from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He helped lead the team to a state championship and back to back USA Today Super 25 National Championships.

His experiences at Bishop Gorman will no doubt provide the 'Bows with a much-needed boost to change their program's culture.

As a senior, Okeke earned first-team honors in the Southwest League and got recognized by SilverStatePrep on their all-Southwest League team. He also received an all-state honorable mention nod from NevadaPreps.

Ikem Okeke received scholarship offers from UNLV and Nevada but ultimately decided to come to Hawaii.

His position: OLB

His measurables: His measurements are from his Nike SPARQ combine results.

His years prior to UH: In his junior season, Okeke totalled 56 tackles (46 solo); 16.5 of them were for a loss which included 7 sacks. He also forced 3 fumbles and intercepted 1 pass.

He followed his first-team all-Southwest League season with a 42 tackle (27 solo) which included 3 for a loss and one sack. Okeke forced 1 fumble, recovered 2 and intercepted 1 pass.

His scouting report: Okeke's size is noted to be an issue but due to his speed his abilities can play up to the safety position. He is a good athlete and with further development, he could be a quality defender for an FBS team.
