There has been much ado from the Red Wave about the number of local recruits (or lack thereof) that are signing with the Bulldogs. Joining local recruits Isaiah Trevino (Kingsburg) and A.J. Greeley (Edison, Fresno) is an athletic TE from the northern San Joaquin Valley.
Name: Jared Rice
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 215 pounds
School: Central Catholic (Modesto, CA)
Held offers from: Idaho, UNLV
Jared Rice did it all for a three-time state champion Central Catholic, playing tight end, free safety and even quarterback (as a sophomore), where he received several accolades including a District 4A first-team all-state selection as a defensive back as a senior and a second-team All-NorCal selection (all divisions) as a tight end, where he's expected to play for the Bulldogs.
"He is really athletic and that is what we needed at this position in this signing class. Jared comes from a very successful program where he was a two-way player who can move well. We like how his talents translate into our offense." - Coach Tim DeRuyter
247sports ranks Rice as 128-best prospect in California and the 31-best TE in the country.
