UNLV football recruiting: Bishop Gorman LB Nela Otukolo decommits from Rebels

Linebacker Nela Otukolo will now choose between Fresno State and Boise State on Monday night at 7 p.m. PT.

Just eight days ago UNLV landed a big time recruit when local linebacker Nela Otukolo (Bishop Gorman, Nevada) decided to stay home and play for his high school at the next level.

Things changed and the Nevada defensive player of the year has decommitted from UNLV and will now choose between another pair of Mountain West schools.

"I will be choosing between Boise State and Fresno State tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (PT)," Otukolo told Scout. "I recently picked up an offer from Boise State and am really excited about it."

The offer from Boise State is interesting in of itself since there was uncertainty over him actually having an offer to the Broncos, but he did get an offer to Boise State on Jan. 23. Otukolo also canceled an official visit to visit the Broncos after he decided to verbally commit to UNLV.

Boise State is supposedly already filled its quota for scholarships for this 2015 class and that is a reason why quarterback Garrett Collingham joined the Broncos class as a preferred walk-on. Perhaps something has changed with the scholarship numbers and with the possibility of landing Otukolo the Boise State staff would do what they could to get him to commit to Boise State.

As for Fresno State, they definitely could use a defensive playmaker on Otukolo to help that unit become more respectable.
