2015 Wyoming football recruiting: Cowboys picks up their 5th verbal in DT Youhanna Ghaifan

Wyoming lands their second Nebraska prospect in the 2015 recruiting class.

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Wyoming received its fifth verbal commitment of the 2015 signing class on Wednesday night, when Grand Island (NE) Central Catholic defensive tackle Youhanna Ghaifan verbally committed to the Cowboys.  Youhanna is the second prospect from Nebraska to verbal to the Wyoming coaching staff, following wide receiver C.J. Johnson prior commitment.

Ghaifan is a 6'4", 255-pound native of the Sudan and has also lived in Egypt.  He really has only been playing football for the last four years and has been described as relatively raw as a prospect, but has a lot of natural strength and athletic ability to build off of.  Ghaifan was a two-time selection of the All-Heartland Super Squad and led the the Central Catholic Crusaders in tackles last season from his defensive tackle position.

He also excelled on the basketball court this past season, averaging nearly 19 points per game in the post.  Soccer was actually his game of choice growing up but once he picked up football he knew it was the sport he wanted to play in college.

He had visited Laramie last spring, when he attended one of the football junior days but had also took a visit to the Wyoming campus two weeks ago.
