2017 NIT bracket update: Boise State, Colorado State advance

Boise State and Colorado State move on in the NIT.

The Mountain West started with three teams in the NIT and two will advanc to the second round, sorry Fresno State who lost to TCU, with Boise State upsetting Utah and Colorado State defeating the College of Charleston.

The NIT is a tricky tournament because some teams want to be there and some do not, and just look at the portion of the bracket has seen the three higher seeds all going down in Cal, BYU and Houston. For the Rams, that gives them home court advantage before the Final Four moves onto Madison Square Garden.

The next games are set and Colorado State is hosting No. 8 seeded, and WAC regular season champion, Cal State Bakersfield who beat Cal 73-66 in their opener, and that game was not even that close.

The second round game is a late Monday night tip at Moby Arena with a 9 p.m. MT tip on ESPN2.

As for Boise State, they got past Utah in Salt Lake City but their bracket is not nearly as busted as Colorado State’s. Their next game is on the road as they take on No. 2 seeded Illinois on ESPN with a more reasonable 7 p.m. MT tip off. Illinois topped Valparaiso 82-57.
