The San Jose State Spartans — the Utah State Aggies — in the Event Center on Wednesday night.
The Spartans’ starting lineup against the Aggies consisted of Terrell Brown, Jalen James, Jaycee Hillsman, Ryan Welage and Brandon Clarke.
The Spartans were off to a good start as Brown scored six points in the first 10 minutes of the first half. Clarke and Schwartz also had six points apiece for SJSU, who trailed the Aggies 43-35 at halftime. The Spartans were 43% in field goal percentage, 58% in three-point field goal percentage with 12 rebounds and five turnovers.
The Spartans seemed to have no solution for the Aggies’ offense in the second half.
The Aggies came up with big steals and blocks late in the half. Utah State had a 10-point lead over the Spartans with 2:54 left to play.
The Spartans hoped for some free throw misses from the Aggies, but their wishes didn’t really come true. SJSU tried their best to mount a comeback using their chances, but their plan didn’t work out.
Brown hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, however, the Spartans fell short against the Aggies, dropping a 81-75 decision at home.
The Spartans head to Albertsons Stadium to face the Boise State Broncos Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm MST on Mountain West Network and KLIV 1590 AM.
