San Jose State falls in close game against Colorado State

Cody Schwartz made his first start of the season as the Spartans hosted the Rams after a week-long break.

After a much-needed holiday break, the Spartans began a brief two-game homestand against the Rams at the Event Center.

The Rams ( ) went on an 11-0 run to start the first half. The Spartans ( ) took a timeout at 17:19.

Spartans sophomore guard E.J. Boyce went 2-for-2 on 3FGs. SJSU mounted a comeback a little less than six minutes later, trailing Colorado State by just two.

Brandon Clark’s dunk kept the Spartans in the ball game, but they continued to trail by two with 4:02 left in the first.

The Rams entered halftime with a 34-31 lead over the Spartans. The Spartans continued to trail the Rams by four at 15:53 of the second half.

The game remained close throughout and the Spartans needed those points. However, they were unable to get ahead of the Rams. SJSU lost their second straight game to Colorado State by a score of 76-71.

The Spartans return to action Saturday when they host the Fresno State Bulldogs ( ) at 2:00 pm PST on Mountain West Network and KLIV 1590 AM.
