To say it’s been a disappointing season for the Colorado State Rams (15-15,7-10) would be an understatement. However, there is still a chance to send five seniors out with a winning regular season record when they square off against the Air Force Falcons (14-16, 5-12) on Saturday.
The Rams topped the Falcons earlier this year in Colorado Springs 83-79 behind 27 points from redshirt senior guard Antwan Scott and 19 points from fellow redshirt senior forward Tiel Daniels. Both will be playing their final game in front of the green and gold faithful.
Air Force has had its fair share of great moments this season. With upset wins over Boise State and UNLV, the Falcons have shown their ability to play with anyone in the Mountain West. One caveat to those wins though, they were within the friendly confines of Clune Arena.
This battle with the Rams will be taking place 133 miles up I-25 in Fort Collins where the Falcons haven’t won since 2008. The Rams and Falcons are both looking to end two game losing streaks. The Rams will look to seniors Scott, Daniels and guard Joe Di Ciman to lead the way while the Falcons will rely heavily on junior forward Hayden Graham. Graham has been the Falcons rock this season shooting almost 50 percent from the field. Graham cannot do it alone and will need help from sophomore guards Zach Kocur and Jacob Vann.
The Rams will also need to find the shooting touch that made them the highest scoring team in the Mountain West. In their last game against Fresno State, they started off nine of 27 with 10 turnovers leading to a season low 23 points at halftime.
That has to improve if the Rams want to send the seniors out on a high note. Tip off is set for 2pm at Moby Arena and can be seen on ROOT Sports and the Mountain West Network.
