Colorado State Loses to Boise State at the Buzzer

The CSU Rams lose a heart breaker that they should have won

NCAA Basketball: Colorado State at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

I guess one could call this karma for the Colorado State Rams. The Boise State Broncos have the ball at the last second, they inbound the ball and make a buzzer beater. Only this time, no stopwatches were required.

CSU was in control for most of this game. The game ebbed and flowed back and forth but mostly stayed the Rams way, until the last 3 minutes when Chandler Hutchinson took over. The Rams couldn’t stop him. And he hit the buzzer beater to give the Broncos the win.

Hutchinson finished with a double-double for the Broncos, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Paris Austin, 18, and Justinian Jessup, 10, were the other Broncos to score in double figures. Nick Duncan and the whole Broncos team were held in check from the 3-point line, they went 5-23 for the game.

The Rams had both Gian Clavell and Emmanuel Omogbo score 22 points. Prentiss Nixon joined them in double figures with 10. Braden Koelliker hit an incredible shot with 4 seconds left to give the Rams the lead. Free-Throws were able to keep the Rams in the game as they went 21-25 from the line.

Defense, the thing the team prided themselves on coming into this year, let them down again. The Broncos were able to drive at will. Offensive rebounds seems to come directly to the Broncos hands. This marks the 7th time the Rams were out-rebounded this year, going 1-6 in those games.

The Rams will have to shake this one off as they head to San Jose on Wednesday.
