What does UNLV do now? What seemed like such a promising season collapsed recently, and the latest thud fell last week against Fresno State in their home opener. Will the Rebels bounce back in their second game (which just happens to be on the road)?
Yet again, the Runnin' Rebs will face a winnable match up against a Colorado State team with a record of 8-6. Different from the Fresno State Bulldogs, the Rams have experienced a tough schedule up through now facing teams such as UTEP, Long Beach, and Kansas State. But, their only notable win was against Northern Iowa.
The Rams are coming off a loss in their home opener just like UNLV, but they played an away game. And in fact, these next two match-ups do not bode well for the Rebels who are often out of sorts on the road; they face Wyoming next.
After tackling a mound of criticism from Rebel fans after the surprising loss at home vs. Fresno, Dave Rice's team must win at least one of these road games (especially to have any shot at maintaining pace for a MWC regular season title, let alone a shot to dance in March).
It feels very ominous in Rebel town right now as the call for Rice's ousting seems to be growing louder on message boards and social media feeds. UNLV could give themselves a huge boost with a win at Moby Arena Wednesday night.
This game tips Jan. 6, at 10 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
