On Wednesday night, the Broncos kept Michael Lyons quiet with 10 points as they beat Air Force 77-65. Anthony Drmic scored 21 of his 23 points to help Boise State pull away in the second half, along with Jeff Elorriaga who added 17 points (15 came on threes) and Derrick Marks who had 11 points. The Falcons Todd Fletcher and Taylor Broekhuis had 14 and 11 points respectively, however the bigger story was that Mike Fitzgerald was kept to only four points.
After a strong 16-6 start, the Broncos fell quiet, allowing Air Force not only to get back in the game, but also momentarily take the lead. Thomas Bropleh quickly resolved that, scoring 7 points of his 10 points in a little over 2 minutes, along with Elorriaga's 14 points, to help the Broncos escape the first half with the lead. From there, Drmic took over and finished off Air Force. The Falcons were down as many as 21 points, but they couldn't bring it nearly close enough for a realistic attempt at a comeback.
The Broncos take their at-large hopes on the road when they face Fresno State on Saturday, while Air Force returns to the Clune Arena on Tuesday to play Wyoming.
