Fresno State 15 - Nevada 5
The story for games with Fresno State in this tournament has been the home run. Both for and against. I'll let you guess how this game went. The Bulldogs had four home runs and the Wolf Pack had two which wasn't nearly enough as Fresno State mercied Nevada 15-5 in seven innings. The big deal was Edgar Gonzalez going the distance for the win and Nevada goes home. Fresno State is on a roll so we'll see how this goes.
Fresno State 11 - New Mexico 5
The Bulldogs continue their devastating run through the MWC Baseball Tournament by eliminating the regular season champs. The mutts added two more home runs to their total as they pretty much dominated in this game. The Lobos were without two of their stars, Jack Zoellner and Luis Gonzalez. It's always hard when two of your best are on the sidelines watching but that is sports.
Another surprise in this one is Ricky Tyler Thomas getting the start for Fresno State and going eight pretty good innings. That was after getting absolutely shelled in his first start of the tournament. Payback is sweet. The Bulldogs will now play for the automatic bid in the championship game. So, about New Mexico. Will they be another in a long line of regular season champs that doesn't get an at-large bid? The Mountain West has a long and sordid history of this and I hate it.
