The NCAA tournament will be announced on Monday and the Mountain West is poised to have just one team in, and it is not Nevada. The Wolf Pack won the regular season conference title and host the post season tournament, but they came up short by not winning a single game this past week.
San Diego State is in the NCAA regional round after beating New Mexico, 6-4, and Nevada is clearly on the outside looking in, and on the way outside.
College Sports Madness is one of many sites to not have Nevada in the field. They have conference tournament champion San Diego State in the Fullerton Region playing against Pepperdine, and the other half has Fullerton going up against Oregon State.
D1Baseball.com has San Diego Sate in the Lake Eisinore Regional as the three seed going up against USC, and the other half has top seeded UCSB going up against Pepperdine. They also have Nevada as one of the first five teams out.
Back to Nevada, they had an impressive 41 wins overall but their RPI is shaky at 54 and that number is probably too high for them to get in as an at-large, but some experts see the Wolf Pack on the bubble. Had Nevada won just a single game they probably would have been reasonably safe but losing to New Mexico (RPI 89) and San Diego State (87) tournament invite.
