2013 NCAA baseball All-Americans: Mountain West players honored

New Mexico and Fresno State earned recognition by placing players on various preseason All-American teams.

New Mexico is the odds on favorite to win the 2013 Mountain West baseball title, and they are getting respect nationally with a pair of players earning All-American lists.

CollegeSportsMadness.com has their four-team All-America list out and it includes D.J. Peterson, who plays first base and third base, and then there is catcher Mitchell Garver. Peterson was named to the first-team while Garver earned a second-team nod.

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper also released their preseason All-American list, and they picked Garver and Peterson. both were named to the first team, while New Mexico's first baseman Ryan Padilla and Fresno State catcher Austin Wynns all earned third team honors.

This latter list is pretty generous to naming All-Americans, because they select one player per position on the first-team, two for the second-team and then have three players per position on the third-team. Even with that this All-American lists says that those on the third-team are the fourth through seventh best at their position in all of college baseball, and that is still an honor.
