Yet another close, low-scoring defensive win for the Wyoming Cowboys sends their long-time head coach Craig Bohl into retirement, overtaking Toledo 16-15 in Tucson.
Wyoming didn’t score a touchdown until the 4th quarter and was led by John Hoyland. He hit three field goals featuring a game-winner at the end of the 4th. Hoyland would win the MVP of the game.
Peasley played well in his last game as a Cowboy, going 20-25 for 168. At this point, that is an impressive game for him, and I’m just about ready to see something different at the quarterback position. All things aside, his tenure with Wyoming is over and Evan Svoboda is next in line for now.
Svoboda even had the lone touchdown in this game, using his signature one yard run that was run all the time this year.
The defense was stellar yet again, holding a dynamic offense to only 15 points and 14 completions. Issac White picked off Toledo once, but the team went sackless.
With a big win in their last game, we look on to next season where we’re not sure how this Cowboy future will look. Will our top players transfer? Will our young replacements pan out? Will Craig Bohl’s replacement Jay Sawvell be able to put a competent offense together in 2024?
There are many questions to be answered in the offseason, but we can now sit back and relax as Arizona Bowl Champions.
