Top Mountain West college prospects

The 2023 NBA Draft might not be for another few months as it is held in June, but that does not stop many from speculating who might be heading to the NBA and potentially making it big as a professional basketballer.

Indeed, there are always plenty of eyes on the event as many like to see who their favorite franchise decides to pick and add to their roster, while there are a host of sports betting fans around the US that like to wager on the events that take place, too.

Sports betting has started to grow exponentially across the US in recent years, with the 2018 Supreme Court ruling allowing states to decide whether to implement their own regulations and permit the activity or not.

As a result, there are a number of enthusiasts who have been looking for the top sports betting sites in the US to use in order to enhance the experiences that they are able to obtain when it comes to watching the sports that they are passionate about.

Indeed, the Mountain West is one region that some basketball fans and sports betting enthusiasts may have on their radar this season, especially as there are four teams from the region going on to play in the 2023 edition of March Madness. San Diego State, Boise State, Utah State, and Nevada all qualified for the NCAA Tournament this year.

However, do any of these college teams have any prospects that could reach the NBA?

Kenan Blackshear

Kenan Blackshear is a Nevada player who has been moved from wing to point guard and appears to have flourished with the positional change. He has plenty of athleticism, and is considered to be built like an ideal NBA pro; something that could make him an attractive prospect for teams in the draft.

Matt Bradley

Playing for San Diego State, Matt Bradley is considered a long shot to make the NBA, although he has a better chance than most from the region. Nonetheless, that statement perhaps reveals just how poor the MW region has been in terms of talent this season. While he is well-rounded, he falls below average in a number of key metrics and does not really have the size to play in the NBA on the wing.

Nathan Mensah

An SDSU college teammate of Bradley’s, Nathan Mensah is another who will be going to the 2023 edition of March Madness from the region that is also thought to have a long shot at being selected for the NBA. Despite achieving his own accolades such as being a two-time defensive player of the year, it is still hard to see any franchise taking a chance on him in the future.

Best MW prospect for the NBA?

If you were to look for the best MW prospect from the region most likely to make the NBA, then you would need to look at Jamal Mashburn, Jr. of New Mexico. His father played in the league, but they are different players. Nonetheless, the junior amateur is currently performing well and has shown continuous improvement since being at college. If he continues, there is every chance a team could come calling.
