A very sentimental game it will be for the Cowboys, as QB Andrew Peasley will be playing his last game as a Poke, and head coach Craig Bohl has decided to hang up the headphones after his matchup with Toledo. Now defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel will replace him next season, but Bohl will take his last ride as a Cowboy in Tucson.
Many other seniors will be saying goodbye to Laramie, but Bohl hits a little harder. In his 10th season as head coach, he led the team to an 8-4 record and planted down a great legacy in 7220.
Wyoming played in the Arizona Bowl last year, falling to Ohio in overtime. Bohl and company are looking to redeem themselves this year.
From what I am aware of, Kolbey Taylor is the only starter who has transferred before the bowl game, and aside from some possible opt-outs, the Pokes should have their full roster for this game. Ayir Asante declared for the NFL draft, but will still play against Toledo.
Toledo will be rolling out their backup QB, and according to Jay Sawvel, “The quarterback that we are expecting to play, he’s a lot better than what we were hoping he would be.”
Toledo went 11-2 this season, losing in the MAC championship, and are settling for a measly group of five bowl game with this one.
Frank Crum was the lone Cowboy on the Mountain West first-team offense list, and he hopes to protect his quarterback one last time before he leaves. As for the defense, first-teamer Easton Gibbs will lead the way.
Despite the record, Toledo doesn’t have a quality win in their resume, so it is certainly a winnable game for this Cowboy squad.
