A familiar name was chosen as defensive coordinator the other day. Bohl, no not that one, the other one. Craig Bohl’s son, Aaron Bohl, is the new Cowboy’s DC, He’s been the linebackers coach at Wyoming for the past four seasons despite not wanting to go into coaching after watching his dad do it. He has overseen the development of some excellent Wyoming LBs including Logan Wilson, Chad Muma, and Easton Gibbs. The promotion seems natural for all involved and should help carry on the legacy in Laramie.
By some recruiting sites, the Rams currently hold the top spot in the Mountain West. Regardless, it’s a strong class for Jay Norvell and his staff. It’s a high school-heavy class, with a big emphasis on California players. It features a lot of skill players, included one of the best ever to sign with the Rams in Jordan Ross. as well as some legacy recruits like Dagan Myers and Jack Moran. It has all the makings of a great class for this program.
When Barry Odom took over as head coach for UNLV, he promised to recruit locally, which is something his predecessor didn’t do and it irked and confused the local high school programs. Coach Odom made good on that promise this week, signing seven players from the state of Nevada during the 2024 recruiting cycle. While it may not seem like a ton, it’s a significant amount considering it’s about 33% of the class. Also, it’s the most that UNLV has signed from its home state since 2009 when they signed eight local players. And Coach Odom and his staff say they are just getting started.
