Mountain West Recruiting Roundup 12-11-23.

NCAA Football: Hawaii at Oregon Craig Strobeck-USA TODAY Sports

It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup.

Welcome to the most hectic recruiting period of the year, the December contact period. Coaches will be on the road visiting players at home and in schools during the week, and then hosting players on official visits on the weekend. Plus, the transfer portal is open and active. Expect there to be tons of new offers, in-home visits, and official visits, plus commitments.

This week, there were 55+ offers, 13 known official visitors, and 13 new commitments in the conference. Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, San Diego State, Utah State, and Wyoming all gain new verbal pledges. The Aggies and Rainbow Warriors led the way with five and three commits, respectively. While either could be chosen on the cover photo, this week Hawaii gets the nod due to their combination of offers and commitments.

Class of 2024 Cover Photo Total:

  • San Diego State: 7
  • UNLV: 6
  • Air Force: 5
  • Boise State: 4
  • Fresno State: 4
  • Nevada: 3

  • Colorado State: 2
  • Hawaii: 2

  • Wyoming: 2

Recruiting Calendar:

From December 1st until the 16th we are in a contact period. During this time, official visits can happen on campus and coaches can have in-home or in-school visits with players.

Next College Student Athlete defines it as:

The NCAA Contact Period is exactly what it sounds like—all communication between athletes and coaches is fair game. Coaches can email, text, call, direct message and generally contact athletes and their parents through any NCAA-approved method. In-person contact can occur on the college campus, as well as at tournaments, at the recruit’s school and home. In other words, the communication floodgates are open, so take advantage of this opportunity to get unlimited access to talk to coaches.

Air Force Commitment Tracker:

Since the Air Force Academy regularly has by far the most commits among Mountain West recruiting classes, it’s fun to track them over the course of the year.

Number of Falcon verbal commits: 94

Commitment Spotlight:

WR Isaiah Buxton (San Diego State)

“SDSU felt at home. I feel comfortable and like myself here. Plus, it’s my home and I will have good support system around. The league can find me anywhere, so why not put my hometown team on map in the process.”
