The Mountain West (MW) men's basketball conference is gearing up for the upcoming season, with ambitions to send four teams to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive March. Building on San Diego State's remarkable run to the national championship game, the MW aims to enhance its reputation in college basketball circles. The Aztecs' journey to the Final Four last season marked a significant milestone, as it was the MW's first triumph in the Big Dance since Nevada's Sweet 16 appearance in 2018. This success was much needed for a conference that had struggled, with an all-time record of 22-54 in the NCAA Tournament, and more recent results that left much to be desired.
