It’s getting closer to the weekend, and that means more football games. Once again, it’s the mid-way point of the weekend, and we are already closer to game day. Through it all, we have you covered. Take a look at today’s links, plus the content coming your way on our site.

Conference Realignment talks.

It’s been awhile since we had any realignment updates. This one seems realistic, although temporary. Yahoo Sports is reporting that Oregon State and Washington State will engage in some kind of scheduling alliance with the Mountain West for the next year or two, playing as many as eight games against MW teams. There are quite a few models floating around, one that would even have them count as conference games, and it sounds like the next step is getting feedback from the conference presidents. This seems like the first step towards a merger.

CBS Top 101 MBB Teams.

Another preseason men’s basketball ranking list. This one is filled with the top 100 teams (plus another one for good measure), and Mountain West teams are scattered throughout. San Diego State is of course the top team from the conference, coming in at #22. Boise State is next at #39, with New Mexico at #48. Colorado State (#73) is called the dark horse to win the conference, UNLV (#90), and San Jose State (#98) round out the list. It is quite a surprise to see Nevada not on the list, which seems like an oversight.

The Mountain West hires an associate commissioner.
