Best NFL players from the Mountain West 2022

The Mountain West Conference started on 26th May 1998 when the presidents of Colorado State, Air Force, BYU, San Diego State, New Mexico, Utah, UNLV and Wyoming agreed to form a new NCAA Division. However, the intercollegiate athletic conference got its name on 26rh October 1998.

Over the decades, many Mountain West conference stars have played for NFL teams. That includes Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher, Devante Adams, Josh Allen, Joel Bitonio, Eric Weddle, Steve Smith, Alex Smith and Derek Carr. Here are the world’s best NFL players from the Mountain West conference this season.

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills QB

Josh Allen recorded a decent rookie season, starting for 11 games with the Bills in 2018. By game week 14, he was the first NFL quarterback in league history to record at least 95 rushing yards in three games (a total of 335 rushing yards).

The Bills made Allen their captain in 2019, and he led them to end their playoff drought, throwing a career-high of 37 touchdowns in 2020. Allen also led the bills to their AFC championship game, but they lost to the Chiefs.

Last year, Allen extended his rookie contract with the Bills for the fifth year, signing a six-year deal for $258 million with $150 million guaranteed. He finished last season with a career record of 409 completions while helping the Buffalo Bills reach their third consecutive playoff. During his rookie season, Davante Adams played 16 games in 2014 and helped the Packers to reach the NFC Championship final. However, they lost to the Seahawks.

Last year, Adams broke the Packers’ one-season record by clocking in 1,553 receiving yards. The Packers put a franchise tag on Adams, but he rejected it, and they sold him during the offseason. He went ahead to sign a five-year contract for $141.25 million with the Raiders, making him the highest-paid NFL wide receiver.

Derek Carr – LA Raiders QB

Derek Carr joined the league in 2014, and he rose the ranks to become a three-time pro bowler. Derek made it to the first playoff game last season, although the Raiders lost the match 26-19 to the Bengals. However, Derek recorded 29 complete passes out of 54 for 310 yards.

Last season, Carr recorded a career-high of 4,894 passing yards, with his touchdown career-high still standing at 32. The Raiders Quarterback has kept waiting for assistance as the wide receiver, and the team granted his wish during the off-season by putting him together with Adams again. The two players had successful collegiate careers together in 2012 and 2013.
