Strong, a native of Vacaville, Calif., went 22-for-39 (56.4 percent) for 312 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Nevada’s 22-17 victory over the Cal Golden Bears — its third power-5 road victory in program history and the first since 2012.
Saturday marked Strong’s ninth 300-yard performance of his collegiate career, including the first against a Power-5 opponent. It came after a first quarter where the Wolf Pack didn’t record a first down with just six yards (all passing).
Nevada’s home-opener is Saturday, Sept. 11 against Idaho State — its only non-conference FCS opponent this year. Kick off will be at 7:30 p.m. PT.
