Game Previews:

What to Watch For:

  • Utah State: The Aggies pulled off a shocker last week. What will they do for an encore? And can they look the same or better against an FCS team?
  • Boise State: Going up against a run-heavy team, they will sink or swim stopping the run. Also, can the offense top 20 rushing yards for the game? Those are their biggest areas for improvement.
  • Wyoming: The road gets a bit tougher for the Cowboys this week and they have to clean things up in the trenches. After barely surviving their opening game, did they shake off the rust?
  • Air Force: Throw everything out the window, this is a pure rivalry game. It’s on big CBS and would be a great chance for the Falcons to make a statement to a national audience. Sink Navy!
  • New Mexico: Another big rivalry game and a chance for the Lobos to show how much they have grown in two years. They looked good but not great next week. Were they saving the playbook for NMSU or still trying to find their footing?
  • Colorado State: The Rams didn’t look great last weekend and now go up against an SEC team. It’s Vanderbilt, who is a doormat in the conference and probably another good test to see where Colorado State measures up.
  • San Diego State: The Aztecs were slow coming out of the gate last weekend won’t be able to do the same this week. Their defense will need to be the same if not better than last week and the offense will need a much better showing, although the game is certainly winnable.
  • Fresno State: After a tough, heart-breaking loss against Oregon, the Bulldogs can take out their frustrations on Cal Poly. Taking care of the ball should be the priority and focus in this game.
  • Nevada: The Wolf Pack can exhale after their big win and get a chance to work on some things against Idaho State. It’s an opportunity to keep improving and maybe develop some backup plans on offense when their main plan isn’t working.
  • UNLV: After a close defeat last week, the Rebels will need to regroup and refocus for a tougher task against Arizona State. Will they get stability at QB?
  • Hawaii: Will week 3 be the week we will who Hawaii really is? They looked much better last week and Oregon State may serve as a medium between UCLA and Portland State.
