It’s another week of the MWC Recruiting Roundup.
While August continues to be one of the slower months in the recruiting calendar, there are some signs of life. There were barely any offers (three) and one of them was for a 2023 recruit. On the other hand, there were some commits as well, with four recruits announcing their verbal pledge. Fresno State picked up a new commit, as did New Mexico, with San Diego State picking up the other two. This week’s cover photo will go to the Aztecs, who continue to heat up in recruiting.
Class of 2021 Cover Photo Total:

Recruiting Calendar:
We are currently in a dead period for the month of August. After this past year, everyone should be familiar with what a dead period is. There is no in-person contact permitted between coaches and recruits, either on-campus or off-campus.

Here is the 2021-2022 D1 FBS Recruiting Calendar This calendar will tell you when
- You can take official/unofficial visits
- Our coaches can attend your games/make school visits
- Coaches can make home visits

Also, August 1st is the first day schools can send official (written) offers to players. If you see recruits tweeting official offers from schools they have already announced offers from or even committed to, this is why. Also, sometimes a recruit who previously announced an offer from a team will not receive an official offer. Official offers will often show how serious teams still are about a player.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Since the Air Force Academy regularly has around 100 commits in each class, it’s kind of fun to track them over the course of the year.
Number of Falcon verbal commits: 38
Commitment Spotlight:
DE Sean DuBose Jr. (New Mexico)
“I chose New Mexico because of the love the whole coaching staff has shown towards me throughout the process of my recruitment. The coaches kept in contact with me almost daily and made sure I knew exactly what I was getting into in great detail if I made the decision to attend the school. Not only that, but they have a great campus, a great football team that runs a defense that suits me very well, and great academics. What more could I want from a school? I’m excited to have the opportunity to play for a team that wants me badly and be around coaches who will work with me to help me be the best person I can possibly be.”
DB Jayden Davis (Fresno State)
“I chose Fresno State because it’s home and it’s easier for my family. The coaching staff up there is great too. I love their energy and vibe! And the defense they run is really similar to what we run at my high school so I think it’s a great fit!! And what excites me is that I get to play with players that I grew up with so I’m super stoked about that!!”
WR Jacoby Kelly (San Diego State)
“There are many reasons why I chose SDSU. First off was the great environment of the school. taking my visit there a couple of months ago made me realize I did not have to look any further for a school to call home. I enjoyed seeing the campus and facilities and envisioned myself being a student on campus there come next August. Secondly, the coaching and recruiting staff were full of amazing and vivacious people who really played a big role in making me feel comfortable on campus. The main person who got me hooked was Coach Cooper. He’s a very great coach, but a trait about him that caught my attention was how wise he was as a man in the world. Not too many people are as genuine and well-spoken as he is and that really helped make my decision easier. What makes me most excited to get there is just being able to play in front of all of the fans inside of the new Aztec Stadium and getting to know all my new teammates. One of my old 8th-grade teammates Marshon Oxley committed there with me, so it’s gonna be really cool to play on the same team as him again. Overall, the San Diego aura is always something to look forward to!”
