Mountaintop View 8-16-21. Spartan wins, Strong limited, bball schedules, prestigious award, game updates.

NCAA Football: Arizona Bowl-Ball State vs San Jose State Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Monday and we’re back after the weekend, getting closer and closer to the start of the season. The links keep pressing on, so check out the latest Mountain West and college sports-related news from around the web, plus the original content we have coming your way this week.

Spartans are defined by wins.

Even after winning the conference championship, head coach Brent Brennan still isn’t always recognized by fans. But it doesn’t matter to him, because people are talking about the program, even in a crowded local sports landscape. Brennan wants to be the person who brings stability to the program, building a consistent winner. He’s doing it so far.

Strong limited, but not concerned.

Star quarterback Carson Strong is still working his way back from two offseason knee surgeries and has been limited or held out in the majority of practices thus far, with more on the way. Head coach Jay Norvell maintains that Strong is fine, just dealing with some inflammation, and isn’t worried at this point. Strong says he’s used to dealing with his knee over the years. Still, it’s worth watching.

MWC basketball schedules announced.

AD Nunez honored with prestigious Commissioner’s Award.
