Two more Nevada Wolf Pack offensive players were given preseason watch list honors Friday.
Tyler Orsini made the Rimington Trophy watch list and Turner made the John Mackay Award watch list. The Rimington Triphy is annually awarded to the nation’s top center, while the John Mackay Award is given to the FBS’s most outstanding tight end.
Orsini started all nine games for the Wolf Pack last season, earning All-Mountain West honorable mention honors. He was given preseason All-Mountain West first team honors from Pro Football Focus earlier this summer.
Turner placed second behind teammate Romeo Doubs — the conference’s top receiver in 2020 — in receptions (49) and receiving yards (605), though he tied Doubs in receiving touchdowns with nine. All but one of his touchdowns came inside the red-zone.
Turner earned All-Mountain West first team honors last year and was selected for the only preseason All-Conference team Thursday. He also was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list — given to the best pass-catcher — this week.
Orsini was the Mountain West’s only center to earn such honors. Turner joined three other conference tight ends on the John Mackay Award watch list: Colorado State’s Trey McBride, San Jose State’s Derrick Deese and San Diego State’s Daniel Bellinger.
