Four Wolf Pack players were named to the preseason All-Mountain West team Thursday.

Composed of just one team, the four players were: Quarterback Carson Strong, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, tight end Cole Turner and kicker Brandon Talton.

Strong was recently named to the Davey O’Brien Award watch list and was given preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year honors Thursday morning. He led the Mountain West in passing yards (2,858), completion percentage (70.1), pass efficiency (160.6) and passing touchdowns (27) with just four picks last year.

He was the first ever sophomore and the first Nevada player — since the program joined in 2012 — to win the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year award in 2020.

Doubs was the conference’s only 1,000-yard wideout — tallying 1,002 yards on a conference-most 58 receptions. He tied Turner for the most touchdowns in the Mountain West with nine. Doubs earned All-Mountain West first team honors after getting selected to the Honorable Mention team in 2019.

Turner, an All-Mountain West first team honoree, hauled in 49 catches for 605 yards. Eight of the 6-foot-6 target’s nine touchdowns came inside the red zone.

A season removed from earning All-Mountain West first team honors in 2019, Talton made the second-team last year. He led the conference in field goals made (15) and placed third in field goal percentage (83.3 percent) — trailing Boise State’s Jonah Dalmas (87.5) and Wyoming’s John Hoyland (92.9).
