San Diego State prepares for advent of NIL era in college athletics
Welcome to a new era of collegiate athletics. The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Mark Zeigler details how this will impact Aztec athletics, and really everyone else. Your favorite college football/basketball player is about to start appearing in commercials repping the mediocre pizza joint down the street from campus.

Boise State men’s basketball completely collapsed last season after sweeping Utah State, falling from easy at-large candidate to NIT within weeks. Read up on how Rice feels about the struggle, and how the Broncos will bounce back.

Interesting tidbits...
Talked to a couple local business owners/boosters in Boise about the NIL stuff. A few takeaways:
— B.J. Rains (@BJRains) June 30, 2021
-Wouldn't expect a ton of money thrown at players right away. Beat UCF and it will pick up.
-Most likely deals at first will be players getting paid to make social media posts.
For those curious on the NIL process:
— B.J. Rains (@BJRains) June 30, 2021
-Boise State compliance office must approve any endorsement/NIL deal beforehand (most will be approved without issue)
-Business owners must sign agreement on deal parameters with Boise State if they are boosters.
