Take a deep breath. We have arrived at another Friday. Get your weekend started a bit sooner with our collected links and original content coming your way today.

Will the G5 get a fair shot once the playoffs expand?

With playoff expansion now inevitable, one of the biggest questions is: will the Group of 5 get an automatic bid? Some would argue they should while others would group them into the at-large category or else it would come with the stipulation they need to be undefeated and attain a certain ranking to qualify. For the G5, whatever is decided will either permanently widen or slow the growing cavernous gap between the FBS classifications. Craig Thompson is part of the four-person task force and he proposed the 8 team model as far back as 2009.

NCAA adjusts transfer waiver.

Is the NCAA adjusting the new transfer rule already? Not quite. This time they are discussing what to do for those who don’t qualify for a one-time transfer. Student have to meet either an education-impacting disability guideline (providing documentation showing they need support or treatment unavailable at their current school and available at their new school) or an updated guideline that addresses a “real and imminent health and safety” threat (providing documentation that the transfer was due to unique and extraordinary circumstances caused by an immediate threat to their health and safety). Golfers advance.
