Do the playoff actually hurt college football?

The Athletic looks at that very question, is the playoff system serving its purpose? Mack Brown sums up the issue the best, saying “The elite teams keep getting better and everyone else is just trying to get noticed.” The playoff is fun and hard to argue the four teams each year aren’t deserving, but it’s also another way to help the rich get richer. Only 6 teams have won a playoff game and four teams have filled 20 of the 28 spots. Parity has never really been a part of college football but are things even more restrictive now? Also, does it keep the G5 teams from having a seat at the table? Craig Thompson is on the record as being for an 8 or 16 team playoff model and calls expansion inevitable.

Avery Williams ready to make an impact, regardless of this weekend.

An undersized high school player who walked on to Boise State, changed positions a few times and became one of the best returners in the nation the past few seasons, Avery Williams knows what it’s like to succeed despite being overlooked. He hopes to be drafted, but even if he isn’t, he knows he will get a shot to stick in the NFL and make an impact in whatever way he can.
