With only four weeks left in the regular season, the list of teams that still have a realistic shot at winning the Mountain West is dwindling. Let’s take a look at the teams that are still in the hunt and how they need things to play out this weekend.

Mountain Division

Utah State

The Aggies join the party of Mountain West teams that play meaningless games against New Mexico State when they should be playing meaningful conference games. Utah State has the easiest schedule of anyone in the conference from this point forward. A Boise State loss will essentially give the Aggies a two-game lead in the standings. A Colorado State loss to Wyoming would also help.

Air Force

The Falcons take on Army this week. This game honestly means more to them than a conference championship. But a Boise State and Colorado State loss would go a long way in helping Air Force.

Boise State

A win over Fresno State will give Bronco fans some hope. But they still need some help and both of the teams they should be watching are playing non-conference games. But a Wyoming win over Colorado State would help the Broncos.

Colorado State

After consecutive losses to Utah State and Boise State, the Rams need a lot of help. The only game on their radar this week is Fresno State vs. Boise State. Ram fans should be pulling for the Bulldogs.

West Division

Fresno State

The Bulldogs are in control after beating San Diego State and Nevada. If they beat Boise State this weekend, only New Mexico and San Jose State stand in their way. The Bulldogs should be pulling for Hawaii to beat San Diego State and San Jose State to beat Nevada. But if the Bulldogs win out, they are in regardless.

San Diego State

Moving forward, San Diego State needs to win out and hope for a Fresno State loss. The Aztecs are big Boise State fans this weekend. The need the Broncos to take down the Bulldogs and a San Jose State victory over Nevada would help as well.

Nevada

Like the Aztecs. the Wolf Pack have now become Boise State fans (weird, right?). A Boise State victory over Fresno State would go a long wat to help Nevada. Hawaii beating San Diego State would also help.

San Jose State

The Spartans are 3-2 in conference play and are on the outside looking in. But if they can put things together and beat Fresno State and Nevada, they have a chance to get back in the conversation. The Spartans need Boise State to beat Fresno State and Hawaii to defeat San Diego State this weekend.
