Mountain West Connection Players of the Week (Week 7)

These players shined for their squads this past weekend

NCAA Football: Nevada at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

After week seven, one things is becoming clear. Carson Strong is really good at football. There were some great performances this past weekend, but this week’s best players have some familiar faces.

Offensive Player of the Week

Carson Strong (Nevada)

Strong once again put the Wolf Pack on his back. Nevada was able to overcome a slow start before taking a commanding lead on their way to a 34-17 victory over a pesky Hawaii squad. Strong finished the game completing 34 of 54 passes for 395 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nevada improved to 2-0 in conference play.

Defensive Player of the Week

Evan Williams (Fresno State)

Williams had two interceptions and led the Bulldogs with 7 tackles. The Bulldogs were able to overcome a slow offensive performance because of great play on the defensive side of the ball.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Savon Scarver (Utah State)

Scarver has cemented himself as one of the most prolific returners in Mountain West history. Scarver had a 100 yard kickoff that he took to the house against a UNLV squad that gave Utah State quite a game. The return proved to be a critical play for Utah State, which escaped Las Vegas with a 28-24 victory.
