Some Mountain West squads are officially half way through the regular season and the pretenders and the contenders are starting to separate themselves. Boise State had a huge upset over BYU and Air Force beat Wyoming in an important game that may have championship implications. While there were a lot of great performances this week, here are our players of the week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Brad Roberts (Air Force)
Carson Strong will probably get the award, but we could pretty much give it to whoever played New Mexico State that week. Roberts had a great game against a good Wyoming defense in a game that could have huge implications in the Mountain Division race. Roberts finished the game with 33 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Week
Scott Matlock (Boise State)
There were some really good team defensive performances this week, but I decided to go with the player that made the biggest impact in a win over a top 10 team. Matlock had 5 tackles, a sack, and recovered a fumble. He was also a great blocker on the goal line for the Bronco offense.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Cayden Camper (Colorado State)
Camper had a huge day making 6/6 field goal attempts including a long of 53 yards. His performance played a huge role in an important victory for Colorado State over San Jose State. Camper narrowly wins over Jonah Dalmas of Boise State, who made for 4/4 field goals for the Broncos.
