The 2020 season is now over for Utah State and it didn’t go too well for the Aggies, who finished the season 1-5. They parted ways with Gary Andersen and lost a number of different players to include Troy Lefeged and Jaylen Warren. New head coach Blake Anderson has now arrived and is looking to do some productive work to help Utah State become a better team then they were this year.
Last season Utah State had the 122nd rated recruiting class in the nation according to 247 sports and ranked 11th in the Mountain West, getting 17 enrollees. This season, Utah State ranks last in the Mountain West with two recruits signed so far, two others committed, and a transfer coming through.
Utah State Early Signing Class
Isaac Larsen
Isaac Larsen is a three star cornerback per 247 sports. He is 5-11 160 lbs and is from Sky View high school in Smithfield, Utah. He is rated is number 180 at his position. Weber State was the only other team to offer Larsen.
Larsen played on three different football teams and for his career had 104 total tackles (69 solo) and had 12 interceptions and four forced fumbles and two blocked field goals.
Aurion Peoples
Aurion Peoples was the second recruit to sign an early letter of intent with Utah State. He is a 6-4 300 lbs defensive lineman that comes out of College of the Canyons. He also had offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Liberty, Missouri State, North Texas, Northern Arizona, and Western Illinois. Peoples committed to Utah State on December 18th and signed his letter of intent on December 19th.
Aurion Peoples had 19 tackles in his freshman year and in 2019 he registered 18 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack.
Logan Bonner
Logan Bonner was at Arkansas State but transferred to Utah State and followed Blake Anderson. In the 2020 season he passed for 1,863 yards and 18 touchdowns and threw just six interceptions. For his career, Bonner has thrown 468 passes and completed 271 of them for 3,150 yards, 30 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Utah State seemingly found their quarterback in Andrew Peasley so the quarterback position might have a battle worth looking out for.
Tupou Maile
Tupou Maile is a three star defensive end according to 247 sports and though he has an offer for BYU has up to this point stuck to his commitment to Utah State but did not sign an early letter of intent. He should provide much needed size on the defensive line that Utah State lacked during the 2020 season, standing at 6-3 235 lbs.
Maile had 50 total tackles during his career at Bingham High School (17 solo) and averaged 4.2 tackles per game. He had a sack and played in 12 total games.
Parker Buchanan
Parker Buchanan is a 6-6 215 lbs three star athlete from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah, that had one offer from Utah State.
He played quarterback for Box Elder High School and passed for 3,860 yards and 35 touchdowns while throwing 20 interceptions on 270/547 passing. It is not yet clear which position he would play for Utah State as it would seem that Logan Bonner and Andrew Peasley are more likely candidates to start at quarterback. Utah State will be looking for defensive play makers so Buchanan may fit in at linebacker or in the defensive backfield given his height but he does have the build to be a linebacker.
