On Friday, Boise State announced the hire of new offensive line coach Tim Keane. Keane joins offensive coordinator Timothy Plough in coming from UC Davis. Keane has some familiarity with the Treasure Valley, as he spent time as offensive coordinator at the College of Idaho. The hiring of Keane should make scheming quite a bit easier for Plough.
Keane’s unit was an excellent in pass coverage in 2019. allowing only one sack for every 33 drop backs. Those are numbers that Boise State quarterbacks Hank Bachmeier and Jack Sears should be ecstatic to see. The offensive line has received plenty of criticism in recent years and most fans made it very clear that they were happy to see Brad Bedell join Bryan Harsin at Alabama.
The biggest question surrounding Plough and Keane isn’t their ability to coach, but their ability to recruit. Harsin set a new standard for recruiting in the Mountain West. Will the new coaching staff live up to that standard? We will find out soon enough.
