College kickers are better than ever.
Kickers are usually only remembered for the game-winning or game-losing kicks, rarely for the ones in between. That’s why most people probably don’t know that FG% has increased from 67% to 75% over the last twenty years. More focus and priority has been placed on kicker training and development during that time as well. The Athletic details many of the ins and outs of kicking techniques.
Mums the word on Air Force football.
Per usual, if something is going on in Air Force football, no one will hear about it until it happens. This is the same program that last year didn’t unveil its defensive coordinator until the game started. This time around, it’s about when they will be playing Navy and Army this fall and if/how they are preparing to do so. Also, no one knows who is on the roster, as there is a rumor that as many as 40 players have applied for administrative turnbacks.
Laramie trying to survive on Saturdays with no football.
Without football being played in Wyoming, it’s no secret that less people are flocking to bars and other businesses that are used to Saturday crowds. One place said every Saturday in the fall is like the Super Bowl for them. But not this year. Covid continues to hurt lots of different areas.
Wolf Pack lose a legend.
Sonny Allen, who led the Nevada men’s basketball team to their first two NCAA tournament appearances, passed away Friday at the age of 84 from Parkinson’s Disease. Allen coached Nevada from 1980-1987 and was inducted in the Nevada Hall of Fame in 2005.
Sherfield eligible to play for Nevada this basketball season.
