Air Force guard Nolan Laufenberg named second-team preseason All-American by Associated Press
Football this fall, no football this fall, still positive to see Air Force offensive lineman Nolan Laufenberg receive top accolades from the Associated Press in the form of being named second-team All-American. It’s a preseason award, but since there is no season for Air Force or anyone else in the Mountain West, Nolan can go ahead and call himself an All-American.
Lawsuit from family of late lineman says former New Mexico football coach Bob Davie ignored player’s plea for help with depression
I swear to you, MWC Connection reader, I’m trying to find positive news. This, however, is very noteworthy and sad. The allegations in this article are serious, and I sincerely hope the justice system finds the appropriate answer to it all. RIP Nahje Flowers.

Bucks Call for Justice for Jacob Blake After Refusing to Play Game 5 vs. Magic
This isn’t Mountain West athletics related, but it doesn’t feel right to completely ignore it. The Milwaukee Bucks boycotted their playoff game against the Orlando Magic in protest of the Jacob Blake shooting that’s dominated headlines. Teams from MLB, MLS, and the WNBA also followed in protest (apologies if I forgot anyone). Historic day in the sports world.
Don’t get your hopes up, folks
I also asked Burman whether or not there is any chance that UW plays football this fall (everything is changing rapidly). It would require permission from the Mountain West and opponents to play. The odds are extremely low. It was a conference decision, not a UW one.

Paywall, but apparently Air Force might play two games this fall?
