With Media Days moving to a later date, the Mountain West has decided to release the preseason awards and predictions this week. Our team at Mountain West Connection will be releasing our preseason awards next week. Today, the conference announced their preseason favorites to represent the Mountain West in the conference championship game.
Out of the West, the Aztecs are the heavy favorites. San Diego State received 19 of 21 first place votes. The Nevada Wolf Pack received two first place votes and are predicted to finish second. The reigning West division champion Hawaii Rainbow Warriors were picked third, followed by Fresno State, San Jose State, UNLV.
In the Mountain division, Boise State received 20 out of 21 votes and is the favorite for the tenth consecutive year. Wyoming received the only other first place vote. Air Force is expected to finish third, it seems like the news on quarterback Donald Hammond III may have had something to do with this placement. Utah State, Colorado State, and New Mexico rounded out the rest of the division.
