This post lays out the financial crisis Group of 5 and FCS schools are in if football doesn’t take place this season. They are already taking big hits with out non-conference pay day games from Power 5 schools. It says minimizing travel for games may be one helpful solution. Also, HBCUs may be facing the biggest crisis as they rely the most on ticket and stadium revenue.
Rather than play the college football season in the spring, this article is suggesting altering what spring ball looks like. They propose having four spring exhibition games, a home and home series against a conference opponent and two non-conference games. They would still be gloried and controlled scrimmages but it could be a way to makeup revenue.
In a completely shocking story from over the weekend, it was announced that Air Force QB Donald Hammond III has lost his good standing as a cadet and therefore cannot represent the academy in outside activities, which would include football. The depth at quarterback for the Falcons is pretty thin and Hammond III was expected to be in contention for MWC pre-season offensive player of the year this upcoming season.
