NCAA extends recruiting dead period.
With the news of the dead period being pushed back yet again, this time to the end of August. And even then there is not much optimism that it won’t be pushed back again. With so much uncertainty, this article is suggesting the early signing period should not take place this December. With recruits not getting to visit schools, it would be rushed if they felt like they had to make a decision that soon.
Three power 5 conferences are considering pushing back their championship games to allow for makeup dates in the event games need to be cancelled. If the PAC12, Big12, and Big10 are considering it, it likely won’t be long before most or all of the other conferences follow suit.
School testing updates. Good news...
A total of 94 athletes were tested by the University of Wyoming in Phase II of the school’s student-athlete return plan. There were no positive COVID-19 tests. With the 168 tests from the first phase, that makes 262 tested and no positives.— Michael Katz (@MichaelLKatz) June 25, 2020
...and not so good news...
Four UNLV student-athletes have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been placed in isolation. Student-athletes who came in contact with those infected are in quarantine.— WillieGRamirez (@WillieGRamirez) June 26, 2020
UNLV Athletics has temporarily stopped voluntary workouts for all student-athletes at least through July 5.
